I was scammed, twice, by Network Communications International Corp. (NCIC).

Here is how the scam works. My wife was in town and she couldn’t find a working pay phone, even tough she had plenty of spare change. So she made a collect call to me that lasted maybe, 30-seconds.

It went like this:

My wife: “I just got out, come pick me up at the same place.”

Me: “OK.”

Click.

For that NCIC charged me $32.85 cents. There were two calls made from the same area, we didn’t know by the second time, because we had not received the phone bill. So we have another $32.85 cents headed our way. The bill also claimed that the phone call was 6-minutes long! Oh, really?

Also, there was no warning what the cost of those collect calls were going to be. Not at the phone booth or by the operator handling the calls.

My phone co. told me I had to call them and try and get the charges either lowered or canceled. That didn’t go so well, I was still charged $9.80. They discounted only $23.03 cents.

After that experience, I went online and found that this company has been doing this for as far back as seven years!

No wonder they will not repair the public phones. They are hoping that people like my wife will make collect calls. And before you ask “why not get cell phones?” Because I really have no need for the extra expense. I really hate to be called anyway, I can just imagine myself going nuts with a cell phone on me. LOL! This is not the issue.

The issue and the question here is why has this company been allowed to do this for so long? Especially with all the gripes I found online, and all true; as I can see that most of the experiences are just like ours.

Anyone else for more regulations? How about another 10 government agencies? This is why I have always been against government regulation. Government regulations hamper use as individual citizens and gives us a false sense of security. What has the FCC been doing here? Downloading porn? Like the SEC agents?

I haven’t posted in awhile. I have been busy elsewhere. I have several blogs and sometimes I miss one.

As some of you know I myself have been an investor, or more like gambler, in several HYIPs. I have since left that world behind and the last HYIP program I am in is showing all the signs of closing down and running with the members’ monies.

I could be making a ton of money just about now with HYIPs without even depositing anymore into one. I had started an HYIP blog and I was starting to get a lot of visitors in a short time, active visitors, who also provided some details on some of the programs I had listed. In one case a visitor of mine confirmed that a registration an HYIP was displaying on their website was a forgery, lifted from a legitimate business’ website and the admin had made some changes to it. This is one of the many things these scamming HYIP admins do.

I am not here to be a big brother to you, I am just telling you that I could be making easy money, although dirty money, had I kept running my HYIP blog. I stopped listing HYIPs in July, 2009. I use that blog now to warn visitors and promote this blog.

HYIPs are good if you are a gambler and can gamble with money you can afford to lose. Otherwise, never trust anything the admins of these HYIPs tell you. They are not there to help you economically, they are there to steal your money.

Another observation of mine, and is the reason why I would never become a troll warning others of these scams on the public HYIP forums, is that I have learned it is easier to promote an HYIP scam than a legitimate business. It seems people want easy money and they will gamble with what they don’t have to try and make that 40% or 50% a month promised by many of these scams.

This is why this blog is not as popular as my HYIP blog was getting in the few months I was talking up HYIPs.

Legitimate companies like Oceanside Network offering a potential 5% to 10% a month (their goals), just doesn’t seem worthwhile to these people.

Affiliate based companies like People String and Green Smoke, also, will not appeal to many of these people. It’s work they don’t care for. They want easy money and what they get in the end is scammed.

e-Cigarettes continue their popularity. It seems even the American Association of Public Health Physicians is now touting their effectiveness in harm reduction to the government.

In a petition to the Food and Drug Administration by the American Association of Public Health Physicians (AAPHP), has submitted the most comprehensive findings and recommendations regarding the reclassification of e cigarettes as an alternative to conventional tobacco cigarettes.

According to the document, “E-cigarettes would be a major part of the proposed harm reduction initiative, because they appear to satisfy the nicotine addiction and the habituation to the cigarette-handling ritual more effectively than any other product now on the market.

Google has introduced their Facebook and Twitter killer: Google Buzz.

Google Buzz is a nifty add-on for GMail, but will it really help Google grab a bigger share of the social networking market? Your guess is a s good as mine.

One thing is for sure, being a member of PeopleString and having been following the advances in services; like games such as Mafia Wars, soon to be made available, coupled with the 70% of the ad revenue that PeopleString is paying their members, all these social networks will have to change how they attract members in the future.

Granted, PeopleString is quite frankly one of the most successful companies paying their members for using their service and only time will tell how it all ends (many have tried and failed), but from my vantage point, PeopleString looks as solid today as it has ever been.

I enjoy listening to Phil Grande. Most people have never heard of Phil Grande. Phil Grande is one of the best traders on Wall Street. He believes totally in technicals (charting) and is always bashing Wall Street/Political fundamentalists.

Arthur Laffer agrees to be interviewed by Phil Grande and somehow misunderstands Phil and exits the interview somewhat awkwardly. It was unfortunate as I think this had the makings of a great interview. I just want to share it and hope some of you catch this podcast.

Arthur Laffer

Arthur Betz Laffer (pronounced /?læf?r/[1]) (born August 14, 1940 in Youngstown, Ohio), is an American “supply-side” economist who became influential during the Reagan administration as a member of Reagan’s Economic Policy Advisory Board (1981-1989). Laffer is also known for the Laffer curve, an illustration of tax elasticity which asserts that, in certain situations, a decrease in tax rates could result in an increase in tax revenues.
